Vizhouz - Civic Laboratory of Change

My design thesis focuses on creating a civic lab that blends nature, art, and inclusivity. I envision a space where the park outside seamlessly connects with the interior through large windows and open areas, bringing the natural beauty indoors.

What makes my project unique is its focus on helping the visually impaired community through pottery. Pottery, with its tactile qualities, offers a special way for visually impaired individuals to explore and understand their surroundings. In my civic lab, pottery serves as a tool for sensory engagement and spatial awareness. By feeling different textures and shapes, visually impaired individuals can enhance their sense of touch and spatial understanding.

The lab is more than just a pottery studio; it's a space where inclusivity and accessibility are central. Workshops and classes will be designed to include people of all abilities, ensuring that everyone can participate and benefit. This approach fosters a sense of community and belonging, where everyone can learn and contribute.

My vision for this space is to celebrate nature, artistic expression, and community engagement. By integrating these elements, I aim to create a place that highlights the beauty of the natural world and the creativity of human hands while enriching the lives of all who use it. This civic lab is intended to be a welcoming and inspiring space for the entire community.
